Please make your captions as thorough as possible!
While it's true that a picture is worth a thousand words, there are times that a few words can greatly increase the value of your photograph to fellow researchers or casual viewers.
Try to place the photograph in context.  Here are a few tips to get you going.
- Who or what is it a photo of?
- Where and when was it taken?
- What has just happened or is about to happen?
- What do you know about the subject of the photo which other viewers may not know?
If it is an old family photograph, give as much information as you can about the family or the individuals in it. This will help distant cousins who hold pieces of your family puzzle to find you, and before you know it you'll be trading information.
