At AEI's Sumud Festival in April 2009, youth from Aida Camp, organized by Al-Rowwad (a cultural organization working in Aida camp), gave a dabkeh performance. Place: in front of the Gate in the Separation Wall at Rachel's Tomb, in the northern part of Bethlehem.
In 2005 the Rachel's Tomb area has been completely walled-in by the Israeli army, as a result of which the inhabitants in the area have suffered at all levels: economically, psychologically and socially. The Sumud Festival is an initiative to bring back cultural life in the area, and to show the sumud or steadfastness of the Palestinians not to give up their rights nor their connection with their land and communities.
