Spirits in Palestine, an anthropological study by Celia Rothenberg, explores cases of jinn in current daily life of Artas Village.Celia had quite a different topic in mind when she came to Artas and lived with the family of Musa Sanad, founder of the Artas Folklore Center. It was hearing women's conversation about a recent case of jinn possession that caused her to explore this fascinating subject. Jinn have been around a long time in Artas, attracted by the water and caves. In fact, it was the jinn who are said to have built the Solomon's Pools under orders of Solomon himself.
To learn more about the Jinn and Artas, read Celia's book - or arrange a trip to Artas with the Artas Folklore Center..
